Birthplace

Born in 1956 in Ipswich, Massachusetts then moved to Boxford, 30 miles north of Boston. Spent summers in Northern Vermont, Maine & Cape Cod.

Inspiration

Family of Artists: Father, Mother, & Sister fine artists.

Travel: Trips with family throughout the United States & Canada. Particularly impressed with the Southwest, California Coast & Canadian Rockies.

Museums: Visited countless number of art museums with family during childhood. While living in Washington D.C., frequented the National Gallery of Art & the Corcoran Museum. Initially drawn to the paintings of John Constable & Albert Bierstadt.

In 1973 attended an Exhibition of "American Impressionist Painting" at the National Gallery of Art. First exposure to the works of Frank W. Benson which remain a vital source of inspiration to this day.

English Literature: Read the complete works of Thomas Hardy, Charles Dickens, George Elliot, the Bronte Sisters & Wilkie Collins. Strongly influenced by the rustic, bucolic settings of these novels.

Life Experience

First came to New York City in early twenties to study stage and film acting. Attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute studying with Lee Strasberg & William Greaves. While attending class with producer Mervyn Nelson met wife Cecilia Ordorica. Married in London, England in 1986. Thereafter established a Video & Photography business in Manhattan. In 1990 after attending several workshops in Vermont & the Southwest, Deane decided to embark on a Fine Art Career moving to East Orleans, Cape Cod, Massachusetts.


For the last twenty-five years, while living on the Cape, Deane's work was shown in several local galleries. Over the years, he has had opportunities to travel to Europe and Mexico for painting workshops. He is currently working on a conceptual show depicting emotional incidents in his life.

Painting Style

Both Representational & Impressionistic influenced by the American Impressionist "School of Ten", the California Impressionists John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer & J.M.W. Turner.
